Tourist Information - Khaptad National Park

Khaptad National Park 

It is located in the west Nepal and is renowned for the Late Khaptad Swami, a scholar and a hermit.

The park with rolling hills of grasslands and forests of subtropical, temperate and sub alpine vegetation is a rich natural habitat. The park is enriched with 224 species of medicinal herbs.

It also provides the excellent opportunity for bird watching  providing the habitat of approximately 270 species of birds.

The common animals and birds found in the area include deer, wild boar, ghoral, Himalayan black bear,yellow throated marten, rhesus monkey, impheyan pheasant, partridges, flightcatchers, bulbuls, cuckoos and eagles.

There are various religious temples around the area.

Access: 20min flight to Chainpur (Bhajang) from Nepaljung and then 3 days walk. 10hrs drive from Dhangadi to Silgadi and then 1 day walk.
Best Season: Mar-May, Oct-Nov, Jun-Sep(rainy), Dec-Feb(snow)
